Sao Paulo, Brazil to Host the 2011 MISS UNIVERSE® Pageant Live on NBC
NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Donald J. Trump, NBC Universal and Miss Universe Organization President, Paula M. Shugart, announced today the 60th Annual MISS UNIVERSE® Competition will air live from Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. The glamorous live event, featuring the most beautiful women in the universe, will air on NBC in the United States, with a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo.

Contestants from more than 80 countries around the world will travel to Brazil for almost a month of activities leading up to the live telecast. They will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview, as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2011. This is first time in its 60-year history the Miss Universe contest will be held in Brazil.
Mexicana, Ximena Navarrete, Miss Universe 2010, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the telecast. During her reign, Navarrete has traveled the world as an advocate for HIV/AIDS education, research, and legislation. The next Miss Universe will continue this work.

India's Nicole Faria crowned Miss Earth 2010
The 10th Miss Earth was crowned at the Vinpearl Land Amphitheatre in Nha Trang, Vietnam after a month of competition. Delegates from 84 countries and territories competed for the title of Miss Earth 2010 in beautiful Vietnam.
Miss India, Nicole Faria was announced as Miss Earth 2010, taking over the reign of Larissa Ribeiro Ramos, Miss Earth 2009. Unlike other pageants, there was no "runner-up" in that sense. Instead the titles of Miss Earth-Air, Miss Earth-Water and Miss Earth-Fire are bestowed on the next three contestants. Tonight, the titles went to Miss Ecuador, Jennifer Pazmiño, Miss Thailand, Watsaporn Wattanakoon and Miss Puerto Rico, Yeidy Bosques, respectively.
Miss Japan Marina Kishira, Miss South Africa Nondyebo Dzingwa and Miss Venezuela Mariangela Bonanni completed the final seven who competed in the final interview competition, where questions from the previous Miss Earth finals were asked.
Included in the semi-finals were: Miss Czech Republic Carmen Justova, Miss Italy Ilenia Arnolfo, Miss Netherlands Desirée van den Berg, Miss Russia Victoria Schukina, Miss Ukraine Valentyna Zhytnyk, Miss USA Danielle Bounds and Miss Vietnam Luu Thi Diem Huong.

Reina Hispanoamericana 2010
Caroline Medina Peschiutta from Venezuela has just been crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2010 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia last November 24th. She is 18 years old who stand 1.78 m tall.
Caroline will also compete in Miss Earth 2011 pageant in Vietnam next year. She's crowned by the previous winner who also came from Venezuela, Adriana Vasini.
Miss Earth 2010 Best in Swimsuit
Luu Thi Diem Huong from the host Vietnam won the first prize in the bikini contest at the Miss Earth 2010 pageant in the central province of Phu Yen on November 2010.
Huong won the title of "Miss Cendelux Hotel", one of the official titles of the pageant. The contest attracted the participation of 80 beauties from nations and territories around the world. Huong said she was very proud to win her prize and will do her best to deserve the title, especially through making active contribution to environmental protection.
The pageant's organizing board granted certificates to the contest's top five beauties who were Miss Vietnam Luu Thi Diem Huong, Miss Ecuador Jennifer Stephanie Pazmino, Miss Venezuela Maria Angela Boannni, Miss Czech Republic Carnen Justova and Miss Norway Iman Kerigo.
The board also granted VND500 million to Phu Yen's People's Committee to support flood victims and provided 10 flood-hit families with VND15 million each.

Recently crowned Miss World Japan 2011 is 22 year old Midori Tanaka and Miss International Japan 2011 is also 22 year old Nagomi Murayama. They will compete in Miss World 2011 and Miss International 2011 pageants next year.
Miss Earth 2010 Best in Long Gown
The environmental delegates of Miss Earth 2010 paraded in their beautiful long gowns on a special event competition, Best in Long Gown. The top five delegates in Best in Long Gown were Misses Venezuela, Brazil, Thailand, Czech Republic and Ecuador.
Miss Ecuador Earth, Jennifer Stephanie Pazmino Saldana emerged victorious as the Best in Long Gown. She was awarded a sash, plaque and a US$30,000, necklace studded with semi-precious stones and diamond from sponsor, PNJ Jewellers of Vietnam.
A special Ao dai competition was also held on the same night and Miss Serbia Tijana Rakic was chosen as the Miss Earth delegate who wore her Ao dai, Vietnam's national costume, the best among the participants in Ao dai costumes.
The long gown and Ao Dai competitions were held at the Diamond Bay in Nha Trang on November 18.

Miss Earth 2010 Best in National Costume
Japan's Marina Kishira was declared winner of the Miss Earth 2010 National Costume competition during the event held in Phan Thiet on Saturday. The rest of the top 5 ladies were the contestants from Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and Ecuador. Miss Japan, who was also named Miss Sea Links City, takes home a prize of USD 5,000.00.
Marina wore a modern gown with an intricate design at the back mimicking the Japanese Art of Tattooing or Irezumi. Irezumi is a traditional Japanese art. Oukoshisei regards tattooing as an art form, expressing the greatness and the beauty of tattoos.
"This is my costume, it was inherited to me. I wore it to bring hope and to show a different world for the modern Japanese women -who are not only associated with kimono costume.", Miss Japan said. She was surprised by her victory that night, and she wanted to convey the images of Japan's blooming fresh flowers and murmuring water flows with it.
"With this victory, I was able to show a new culture of our country to the world. I do not think I would win or lose, but I am surprised and was proud prior to winning. This award as well as my luck is for Japan and the significance of this outfit.", she added.

Miss India wins Miss Talent
Nicole Faria of India won the talent competition held last night at the Diamond Place in HCM City, Vietnam. 18 beauties participated in the competition which was televised live in a local channel.
Completing the Top 5 for Best in Talent are: Crimea, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam.
The delegates who performed were Japan, Jamaica, Italy, Guatemala, Singapore, Brazil, England, Ireland, Guyana, India, Thailand, Botswana, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Guam, South Africa, Tonga, Crimea and the host Vietnam.
Miss Earth 2010 finals will be held in Nha Trang, Vietnam in December 4th.

Elizabeth Mosquera of Venezuela has been crowned the 50th Miss International. She is the 6th Venezuelan to capture the prestigious crown for her country. The 1st runner-up was Miss Thailand (Piyaporn Deejing) and Miss China (Si Yi Yuan) won 2nd runner-up.

Maydelise Columna from Puerto Rico wins Miss Intercontinental 2010 pageant in Dominican Republic. The 1st runner-up was Karen Schwarz of Peru and 2nd runner-up was Anastagia Pierre of Bahamas followed by Olga Lidia Navarro Santos of Dominican Republic and Macrielena Velez Sanchez of Colombia.
MISS EARTH 2010 pageant kicks-off
Miss Earth 2010 pageant has now officially started in Vietnam. More than 80 delegates from around the world are now arriving at the host country. For the first time on its 10th year, the pageant is being held outside the Philippines.
The delegates will participate in a month long pageant activities and special contests prior to the coronation night. Finals night will be held in Vinpearl, Nha Trang on December 4th with LIVE telecast on VTV1 and VTV4, ABS&CBN, TFC and Star World.
The reigning Miss Earth 2009 is Larissa Ramos from Brazil.

Miss United States is MISS WORLD 2010
An 18 year old beauty from United States was crowned as the 60th Miss World held at the Beauty Crown Theatre in Sanya, China last October 30th. She is Alexandria Mills from Louisville, Kentucky. The 1st runner-up was Emma Wareus from Botswana and the 2nd runner-up was Adriana Vasini from Venezuela.
